Title: Future Variability Management

Abstract:  Today  many  car  companies offer  configuration  of  their products via the internet. The  configurators offer a customer view on
the   variability  of  a   particular  car.    What  will   happen  if
configuration of a car is actually available for the overall assembly?
An engineer could then easily build up a new car out of existing (sub) assemblies, or  parts among  all product lines  with respect  to given target  functions  such  as  cost,  weight,  profit,  or  performance.
Feature models are a unifiying framework that can be used to represent all  the  needed  information  and  to further  support  the  required reasoning tasks. >>more
