13. March2010 – Wolfgang Gassler at the HTL-Bau und Kunst, Trenkwalderstrasse

The HTL-Bau und Kunst (Construction and Arts) hosted a pedagogic day, where all teachers of the school met to discuss further ongoing education and to share information. Wolfgang Gasser was invited to give a presentation on "Ho well do Google & Co really know us?", which was a core element of this event. Main goal was to sensitise teachers to the use of data in order to pass this knowledge on to their pupils.

The University of Innsbruck was on site and able to enthuse the 6 to 10 year olds with 10 project displays form different disciplines.
Computer Science  was represented by Manuela Weitlaner. She showed to kids how to hide messages with magic ink and they learnt how Morse Code works, using flashlights to encrypt messages. ...more
